This qualification in civil and structural engineering will provide you with the high level skills and knowledge needed to work on complex projects — from skyscrapers and bridges to public buildings and intricate road designs — and expand your experience in the design and construction of civil works such as dams, structures and pipe networks. You will learn engineering drafting standards AS1100, and use CAD and other industry standard software programs to design and produce drawings. You'll also learn about contemporary industry considerations such as environmental and sustainability principles, and how to use building information modelling (BIM) technologies; use physics, statics and maths in engineering; surveying; and so much more.

Opportunities for strong career growth

This course is aimed at school leavers, graduates of the Certificate III in Engineering - Technical course, those wishing to gain employment in the field of Civil and Structural Engineering, and those seeking employment as trainee drafters.

You will be taught engineering drafting standards AS1100 and gain exposure to CAD packages selected from AutoCAD, Revit and 12D.

Students will be introduced to sustainability principles and produce civil construction drawings as part of their assessment.
