This course is the qualification required for registration as an Australian Wool Classer.

This is a specialist field that offers fantastic job opportunities across Australia. You'll learn how to prepare fleeces for classing; manage shearing and crutching operations; appraise and class wool and fleeces using industry descriptions; prepare wool based on its characteristics; and press and document wool for a clip. You'll also gain skills in supervising work routines and teams; and managing staff performance and training.

The course also covers shed duties; preparing for wool harvest;, quality assurance;  workplace health and safety; and first aid.

You will have the skills and knowledge to sort, classify and grade wool into various types for sale in the market.  You will learn skills in supervising work routines, staff performance, training, determining wool classing strategies, managing shearing and crutching operations, classing wool for special markets, providing information and advice on wool preparation, and implementing and monitoring quality assurance procedures.
