
This qualification will give you the skills to provide an advanced level of assistance to a dentist, dental hygienist, dental prosthetist, dental therapist or oral health therapist working in a dental clinic or specialist facility.
You will have the opportunity to learn how to prepare for and assist with oral health care procedures; assist with dental radiography; comply with and implement infection prevention and control policies and procedures; provide first aid; and much more! Depending on your training provider, your course may include actual hands on experience in a working dental clinic.

The Certificate IV in Dental Assisting is ideal for qualified dental assistants who are looking to upskill, diversify, and be able to further assist the dentist within the dental practice.
On successful completion of this course you'll gain specialist skills and knowledge to construct dental models, fabricate Thermoformed appliances and take clinical photographs. You'll also learn additional sterilisation techniques and gain increased insight into practice administrative processes.
From semester 2, 2023, North Metropolitan TAFE's Dental courses are delivered in our newly fitted out Dental department at our conveniently located Leederville campus.
Students will need to provide evidence of current employment, as there is a requirement for evidence of 250 workplace hours to be collected.
