Do you love make-up and cosmetics? If you would like to work as a retail cosmetics assistant, eyelash and eyebrow tech or makeup artist, this is the qualification for you!

Through this nationally recognised qualification, you could become a specialist make up artist and work in beauty salons, day spas, or even film and TV.

Depending on your training provider, the course offers specialist skills in creative make-up design for events, special occasions and photography, but you can also choose electives that will broaden your service offerings. Options include: spray tanning, waxing, recommending and selling beauty products, lash and brow treatments, creating a business plan, setting up a beauty business, and more.

If you are passionate about the exciting world of make-up and would like to work in make-up studios, cosmetic retail, fashion and media sets or studios then this course could be the perfect one for you.

    You'll gain artistic and business skills. You will also acquire the latest airbrushing techniques, an advanced skill being taught as part of this creative and artistic make up qualification. Relationships with both clients and industry are important and these aspects will be covered in your course with a focus on live salon works and engagement with industry professionals such as photographers.

    A valuable part of our course is ongoing practical demonstration of your skills, you will be need to bring live models to class as required.

    Join our Certificate III in Makeup course and learn the fundamental skills required to work in the professional makeup industry with our experienced team of industry lecturers. You may apply these skills working in industries such as on a cosmetic consultant, working on photo shoots in the fashion and entertainment industry, or as a freelance makeup artist, including weddings, and special events. You may even work from home or in a salon as an eyebrow and lash technician.

    This course provide a pathway into the Diploma of Screen and Media  Specialist Make up Services to further enhance your career into television and theatre

    You’ll be trained using professional product ranges such as Dermalogica skin care, MAC, Crown, Kryolan and LA girl makeup.

    At SM TAFE your fees are inclusive of all training products and equipment for the entirety of your course. You will receive a take home makeup brush set to start you on your makeup journey. Additional purchases include a beauty tunic, textbook and linen for class use.
