When you complete the Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) you will be on a pathway to develop a career in the rewarding world of disability work. On successful completion you could find work in a variety of settings such as residential, individual support, employment, recreational/day support, advocacy and case management.

*This course includes a minimum of 120 hours of supervised work placement, where you'll be able to apply your training in a meaningful and relevant way, and gain real industry experience.

This course will equip you to support people with disability to live independently, promote choice, and enable opportunities to increase independence and skill development. You will learn how to read and follow individual plans, meet the legislative frameworks, work safely and become equipped to work within the disability sector.

You will learn about skill development, community inclusion and current practices and frameworks that influence disability work.

Our Rockingham campus has a state-of-the-art purpose-built learning facility for disability home care and aged care, with dedicated areas that emulate rooms in a modified residence or aged care facility.

When you complete this course, you will be ready for a career in individual support. You will have the skills and knowledge to follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to disability or some other reason, in the community and/or residential setting. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

Our CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) qualification is a nationally recognised pathway into the disability care industry and is designed to develop multi-skilled workers for the broad range of services supporting people with disabilities within residential and community settings. This specialisation of disability has been designed for individuals who want to work in the disability related fields including NDIS support work. Students who complete this qualification are able to provide support and in person care to people with disabilities in a variety of settings including people’s homes, residential facilities, day centres and more broadly within the community. Australian Employment & Training Services (AEATS) delivers a combined Classroom and ZOOM delivery program for the convenience of students in front of a live trainer. Some classroom attendance also required for practical assessments. AEATS offers this program over an average of 3 days per week for a period of 17 weeks with an additional 7 days of ZOOM delivery before completing an additional 120 hours of workplace assessment. AEATS has a broad range of Disability settings which its dedicated placement coordinators utilise for quality practical placement opportunities. The Traineeship delivery is one that allows a student to participate in industry undertaking a job role that provides opportunity for learning and growth. Undertaken over a period of time while the student is employed either full time or part time they build on knowledge and understanding in the industry. Our training is delivered on the job with constant support from a dedicated trainer. Face to face class sessions and on the job mentoring visits are scheduled and delivered over the period of the traineeship contract. We enhance the learning and provide opportunities for the student to complete the units while being immersed in real life work situations. Undertaking to support an individual student learning style we tailor our delivery to suit the environment and the students learning style.

Skills Generation offers CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support in the Disability, Ageing and Disability and Ageing specialisations. Training will be delivered prominently via live online classes – 2 x 3 hour sessions each week plus monthly practical days. A flexible timetable is provided with sessions available in the morning and evening to enable students to schedule around your work roster. As an existing worker, you may be able to complete some units of your course through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
