We offer real world knowledge to plan and conduct fitness programs for a variety of clients and to build up your communication, organisation and time management skills through our locally, and nationally qualified team of lecturers.
You will learn about the roles of fitness instruction and exercise science while gaining an overview of work performance in the industry. You will undertake Industry relevant learning in areas that include; anatomy, physiology, appraisals and programming, analysis of risk, responding to emergency situations and the maintenance of equipment.
As part of this qualification, you will undertake a supervised work placement in the Fitness Industry where you will be able to apply the skills and knowledge you have learned.

The Certificate III in Fitness provides participants with the skills to work as a fitness instructor, planning and conducting fitness programs and group exercise regimes. Participants will learn about the role of fitness instructors and gain an overview of work in the industry.

A gym instructor welcomes new members to the gym and develops specially tailored programs to achieve fitness goals, whilst a group exercise instructor leads a class through a specialised exercise routine or bootcamp.
You’ll learn about the function of exercise instruction, assessing fitness levels and how to deliver fun, high-energy, group exercise sessions and design effective training programs for a range of age groups from children to older adults.
The length of our course allows students the time to develop a strong skillset and the face-to-face training environment means our graduates are highly regarded in the fitness industry for having depth of knowledge and well-practised skills that can't be developed during a short course or online.

Learn in our state-of-the-art, fully equipped onsite gymnasium that reflects current industry practices and simulates a real-life 24 hour, membership subscription based commercial gym, featuring resistance machines, cable machines, free weights, cardio machines, shower and locker facilities and more.
Students also participate in off-campus assessments for the childrens’ program component of the course, to develop functional movement training skills in a real-world setting.
When you complete this course you will be ready for a career in fitness. You will have the skills and knowledge to perform a range of activities and functions within the fitness industry. Depending on the specialisation chosen, this qualification provides a pathway to work as an instructor providing exercise instruction for group, aqua or gym programs. They work independently with some level of autonomy in a controlled environment such as fitness, leisure, aquatic and community centres where risks are managed through pre-existing risk assessment and hazard control processes.
Individuals who specialise in Aqua Exercise Instruction deliver water-based exercise sessions designed for participation by a group of clients. Sessions may be freestyle, pre-choreographed or circuit style. They also have the skills to rescue a client in distress, and an appropriate level of pool deck fitness and endurance.
Individuals who specialise in Group Exercise Instruction deliver exercise sessions designed for participation by a group of clients with a mix of ages/fitness levels. Sessions may be freestyle, pre-choreographed or circuit style. These individuals instruct and demonstrate complete exercise sessions to groups with limited individual interaction. Individuals who specialise in Gym Instruction provide individually tailored client assessments, provide technique correction as needed, and develop and demonstrate programs. They also provide supervision of a facility or service, keep equipment clean, tidy and well maintained, and handle various customer inquiries.
