This qualification, completed as an apprenticeship, is for trades including boilermakers, blacksmiths, welders, sheetmetal workers and others working in the metal fabrication and welding fields — whether you want to pursue the creative, engineering or structural side of fabrication — this is for you!
You'll gain skills and knowledge to work safely in metal fabrication — including the use of chemicals; and learn how to perform complex measurements, use a variety of industry tools and machinery for different welding processes including flux core arc, and working to quality standards.
You'll also learn how to do heat treatments and testing including inspections, set and edit computer controlled machines and processes, and lathe operations.

K.L MILLS & N.A MILLS T/A NAM Training facilitate apprenticeships in MEM31922 Certificate III in Engineering - Fabrication Trade. These are delivered by a combination of on and off the job training and assessment at the apprentices’ workplace in employer provided venues. Units of competency are selected to meet workplace and industry standards. Unit selection can be tailored to suit abrasive blasting/industrial painting, anodising/electroplating and/or powder coating. Training is delivered face to face, one on one or groups of apprentices, depending on apprentices’ and workplace needs. Our trainer negotiates the training and assessment arrangements with enterprise representatives who are responsible for current work skills training in the workplace, and with site management officials where applicable. Some of the apprenticeship may be achieved by formal skills recognition processes, such as Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) where suitable. Apprentices may take 6-48 months to complete the apprenticeship. The enrolment term depends on the current skills and knowledge of the apprentice and is negotiated with the apprentice and the employer.
