The Certificate III in Community Services reflects the role of entry-level community services workers who support individuals through the provision of person-centred services. Work may include day-to-day support of individuals in community settings or support the implementation of specific community-based programs. At this level, work takes place under the direction of others and supervision may be direct or indirect. Work may take place in a range of community services organisations. Students who complete a Certificate III in Community Services can expect to find employment in support positions across a wide range of community service industries.

South Regional TAFE is transitioning this qualification to the new training package in 2024. Students will be enrolled into the new units developed to meet current and future industry needs. Fees may vary for courses transitioning to the new training package.

This nationally recognised qualification provides the skills and knowledge required for entry level community services workers who support individuals through the provision of person-centred services. Through theory and practical course work you will learn to:

This course is delivered under the Participation - Equity Program in the Pilbara region. The program will run 2 days a week, 7 hours per day for 25 weeks and includes lunches, mentoring and transport will be provided.

Community Services is a great industry to join if you have a passion for helping others. Person-centred support is needed to assist a range of people in day-to-day tasks. This certificate will teach you how to listen to and understand people’s problems, background and circumstances, and to assist them with the areas they need help with. You will also learn to deal with and implement support systems and networks, and develop plans which will address your clients’ immediate and long term needs.

This course is delivered under the Priority Industry Training and Work Readiness Programs for students who are currently unemployed. This course is delivered as a blended model of classroom-based learning and self-paced study and contains a work placement to provide real-life skills.

The Certificate III in Community Services is an entry level course in community services. After graduation, you will be able to work in diverse roles including but not limited to Support Workers (Community Services), Community Care Worker, Client Contact, and Assistant Community Worker to support individuals and families in their own community. This qualification reflects the role of entry level community services workers who support individuals through the provision of person-centred services. Work may include day-to-day support of individuals in community settings or support the implementation of specific community-based programs. This qualification is delivered 2 days per week over a minimum duration of 18 weeks. There are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, although applicants will need to undertake a LLN assessment. Students must be 16 years or older at the time of enrolment. The training is conducted by a qualified, industry current, trainer and assessor to ensure the learning is relevant and up to date. This training will take place in a classroom environment using face-to-face training methods at one of our study locations. Intakes are scheduled throughout the year.
