Depending on where you do the course, you may also learn ceramics and sculpture or other visual art types. Learning is very hands on, with experienced professional visual artists as your teachers, and you will also learn about the professional and business side of visual arts.

Our visual art and craft qualifications provide you with skills that are relevant to current industry trends and practices.
In this introductory course you will develop skills such as drawing fundamentals and a range of techniques using mixed media, to digital art, including basic photography and manipulating digital images, and you'll also learn how create ceramic and sculpture artworks.
Each term you will focus on a specific subject such as ceramics, sculpture, drawing or digital art.
Our courses offer excellent resources and highly experienced lecturers. If you are interested in further developing your art skills, then this is the course for you.
This course provides a pathway to a wide range of other qualifications in visual arts and craft, and more broadly, the creative industries.
There are a great many opportunities within the art area from production of small local products to be sold in markets, pop-up shop initiatives, art competitions, art as an engagement pathway for other non-profit organisations, as well as production of works available through local galleries to large works such as paintings, jewelry, ephemeral installations, public art and sculptures for the community and local organisations.
Classes are often held in the evenings and depend upon industry demand. It is recommended to complete one or two units only per term.
Locations
The Certificate II in Visual Arts aims to develop the basic creative and technical skills that underpin visual arts and craft practice. Students who complete the certificate will find that it prepares them for the higher-level learning that supports professional art practice.
