This course is a post-beginner or follow on course for people who have had some formal or informal exposure to English and who already possess a foundation level of English language skills and numeracy but would like to develop those skills further.

You will learn simple conversation, how to use money, simple writing, simple maths and simple instructions.

This course is ideal for newly arrived migrants and refugees who need to develop language skills to participate in a limited range of contexts. Other groups who may benefit from this course include international students, long term migrants and Aboriginal students.

This is a bridging course for adults from non-English speaking backgrounds. This course further develops your language and literacy skills to undertake further education and training, seek and maintain employment and participate in your community. You will gain skills in:

  • Learning to use English within an Australian context
  • Increasing your knowledge of Australian society, customs and practices
  • Improving your speaking and listening
  • Improving your reading and writing, and
  • Developing your study skills.

You will have the skills and knowledge of English as an additional language (EAL), in English and numeracy. You will develop routine language skills to participate in a range of community, further training or employment contexts. This course is a  post-beginner course for learners who have had some formal or informal exposure to English and who already possess a foundational level of English language skills and numeracy.

This course is free for people eligible for the Adult Migrant Education Program. Talk to one of our staff to check your eligibility. 

South Regional TAFE is transitioning this qualification to the new training package in 2024. Students will be enrolled into the new units developed to meet current and future industry needs. Fees may vary for courses transitioning to the new training package.
