Working in civil construction, you'll get to be part of projects building bridges, large commercial buildings, public facilities such as schools, roads, transport stations — if it's big, it's probably on the list!

This entry level course will give you the practical skills and knowledge to undertake a range of manual labouring tasks and other tasks found on civil construction work sites. You will learn about safe work practices; using equipment and tools; effective communication and teamwork; how to read and interpret plans; take measurements; assist in excavation; operate small plant such as bobcats; and organise your work. It's the perfect introduction to the civil construction industry and can also give you a headstart on an apprenticeship.

Are you a school leaver or young adult with minimal practical work experience? This course could be for you. 

You will learn how to use a range of hand and power tools, small plant and equipment, carry out levelling, concreting and manual excavation, and a range of tasks related to planning and organising worksite tasks. You will learn about worksite health and safety, communicating within your team and completing jobs to outlined specifications. Successful completion of this course will enable you to enter the workforce with skills to work safely to industry standards.
