This qualification is currently cited as meeting some of the requirements for certification as an Engineer Watchkeeper by the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA). You will be certified to perform the duties or functions of:
- an engineer watchkeeper officer on ships of any propulsion power in any operating area;
- second engineer duties on ships less than 3,000 kilowatts in any operating area; or
- chief engineer duties on ships less than 3,000 kilowatts in near coastal waters.
