You'll gain the knowledge and skills to work effectively in the education sector, supporting the development of children; implementing inclusion strategies; understanding legal, ethical, and administrative requirements; and workplace health and safety.

You'll also learn first aid, and gain skills for working with culturally diverse people.

This qualification covers the competencies required for educators who work with school age children in outside school hours’ care and vacation programs. You will gain the knowledge and skills to provide experiences to support children’s play and learning, identify and respond to children and young people at risk and to participate in work health and safety. This course is delivered both in the classroom (PIT) and as traineeship. PIT is based at our AIWT campus, traineeship is delivered on-the-job. Our trainers visit regularly in the workplace to conduct training and assessment.

This qualification reflects the role of educators who work with school age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs. In doing so they support the implementation of an approved learning framework. They may work under direct supervision or autonomously and may have responsibility for supervision of volunteers or other staff. 

Funded through PIT programme; Traineeship funding is for those employed in the industry.

This particular course is offered as a traineeship and therefore training and assessment is conducted in the workplace.
