This qualification will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to assist in the design and construction of garden landscapes or renovation of existing gardens. This qualification is designed to provide you with the foundation skills and knowledge required by the landscaping industry sector. You will learn skills to maintain and construct domestic and commercial landscapes and recreational landscape structures. You may also learn to recognise plants, plant trees and shrubs, lay paving, construct retaining walls, lay irrigation and drainage pipes, establish turf, treat pests and diseases and operate and maintain machinery and equipment (eg tractors).

There are no formal entry requirements for this course. It is however recommended that applicants have at least completed year 10, Certificate I in Agrifood Operations, Certificate I in Conservation and Land Management (includes 'Green Army' participants) or Certificate I in Horticulture.

Youmay be able to attain a triple qualification,adding the Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management and Certificate II inHorticulture to this Certificate III in Landscaping,talk to staff when you enrol.

The course provides a wide range of practical skills and supporting knowledge to equip students for employment under supervision in the landscape sector of the horticultural industry. Training is provided in the areas of hard landscaping; soils; irrigation; turf establishment; treating weeds, plant pests and diseases; plant knowledge, establishment and pruning and horticultural safety.

This Qualification is also available as a Traineeship. To study as a Trainee, you must be employed in a training contract by an appropriate organisation. Please see the Apprenticeships/Traineeships section for more information.
