Certificate III in Process Manufacturing is offered through the WA Traineeship Program.  Training is delivered in the client’s workplace and the qualification is suitable for production staff and those who support production activities.  The qualification is delivered with a focus on LEAN principles such as: 5S, Process Mapping, Standardisation, and Mistake Proofing.  Participants will develop their technical problem solving skills and increase their ability to provide innovative solutions to production issues and improve the quality and efficiency of the manufacturing process.

The MSM30116 Certificate III in Process Manufacturing provides the competencies required by advanced production workers who use a range of equipment and provide support functions directly related to producing products. 

This qualification covers:

  • production support workers - people working in manufacturing and filling the vital production support roles but who may not have the opportunity to develop competency in sufficient technical units related directly to producing products
  • employees who operate across more than one category within process manufacturing or 'specialised processes' and elsewhere when required.
  • The training is delivered fully on-the-job

Students completing an advanced diploma are granted one year advanced standing on the pathway to a Curtin University degree.

Course Aims

  • Foster an understanding of career opportunities in the oil and gas, mining or chemical processing industries
  • Develop technical and practical skills
  • Learn foundation engineering design principals, technology and practices
  • Assist students with a pathway to employment or higher level qualifications

This course is also delivered as part of the Chevron Women in Engineering program. As part of this sponsorship, 14 fully funded scholarships are available for females in Semester 2, 2019to target and promote more female participation in engineering and the oil/ gas and resource industries.
