Our Certificate II in Process Plant Operations PMA20116 qualification offers students exposure to the fundamentals of process plant operations. It forms part of the Chemical, Hydrocarbons and Oil Refining Training Package (PMA16) and offers a number of specialist unit streams. It is typically used to prepare new employees or develop existing workers performing an operational role in the following chemical, hydrocarbons or refining sectors.

  • fine chemicals
  • heavy chemicals
  • petrochemicals
  • hydrocarbon extraction
  • hydrocarbon transmission
  • hydrocarbon processing/refining
  • minerals processing/refining
  • metalliferous processing/refining
  • metals smelting/processing
  • other related areas.

There are a number of delivery options to complete this qualification:

  • a) Full-time on-campus over an eight week (8) period. This program is delivered four times a year.
  • b) Part-time evening over a year through a combination of on campus night sessions (two evenings per week) and online components. This program is especially suited for individuals with work commitments.
  • c) Flexible delivery including online learning, RPL, workplace assignments and third party verification (or a combination). This option is suited to existing workers in the chemical, hydrocarbons or refining sectors, or similar industries.
  • d) VETIS Traineeship. Please see the Apprenticeships/Traineeships section for more information.

This course is also delivered as part of the Chevron Women in Engineering program. As part of this sponsorship, 14 fully funded scholarships are available for females in Semester 2, 2019to target and promote more female participation in engineering and the oil/ gas and resource industries.
