This nationally endorsed qualification provides participants with the training, skills and knowledge to select, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain telecommunications and high performance data services in buildings and premises. It includes ACMA requirements for Open Cabler Registration.

The UEE30411 qualification is typically delivered for 40 weeks per year over a period of three (3) years. The CET offers enrolments throughout the year subject to apprentice numbers. Upon registration, employers can select from weekly day release, or two week block release training programs. To assist with course programming, the delivery option selected must be maintained for the full calendar year. Please contact the College administration team for specific course commencement dates.

A training contract must be signed through an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) and registered with the WA Department of Training and Workforce Development – Apprenticeship Office. ‘On the job’ training must be provided by an employer holding a current open cabling registration.

The College of Electrical Training is the industry training provider and attracts the same financial support from the State Government as any other Registered Training Organisation ensuring there is no cost disadvantage to employers or apprentices.

The course is suitable for new entrants and experienced technicians who want to upskill to take advantage of new and emerging technologies in the Telecommunications or Electronic Security industries. This qualification gives students the knowledge to work safely in the voice and data industry. The main parts of the course look at the installation of telecommunications infrastructure, IT and security equipment installation and the installation of data room requirements. The following licences can be obtained on completion of the course:

  • Optical, structured and coaxial cabling endorsements
  • Aerial and underground end
  • White card
  • Western Australian Security installers license
