This qualification is for individuals who demonstrate a natural empathy and are caring individuals who have quite often completed the Certificate III in Health Services Assistance This qualification reflects the role of workers who provide therapeutic and program related support to allied health professionals. The worker is required to conduct therapeutic and program related activities under the guidance of an allied health professional. Supervision may be direct, indirect or remote and must occur within organisation requirements. The worker is required to identify client circumstances that need additional input from the allied health professional. The worker may be engaged to work in a specialty area or work generically across the organisation in delivery of allied health assistance services. The worker, in conjunction with the allied health professional, may have responsibility for supervising other allied health assistance workers. You will find are working with the patient directly.

To achieve this qualification, the candidate must have completed at least 120 hours of work as detailed in the

TheCertificate IV in Allied Health Assistance is appropriate for new or Certificate III qualified allied health assistants who wish to further develop their professional skills.You'll be workingunder the delegation of thequalified professional (whether it bea Speech Pathologist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or other allied health professional) in a rich variety of settings to promote participation in and achievement of functional independence in activity.

The clients you work withare from a range of ages with varying presentations including physical disabilities, medical conditions, mental health ailments, ageing, developmental disability, communication difficulties and/or social disadvantage.
You could gain employment in both public and private health settings such as community rehabilitation centres, public hospitals, aged care facilities, schools, mental health clinics, private practices and community health centres.

You will develop theskills and knowledgegained inthe Certificate III to allow for greater management over self and supervision of other allied health assistants.
Some employers require Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance as a minimum for employment, especially those where home visiting and acute rehabilitation programs involve more complex clients and less frequent supervision by health professionals.
