This qualification reflects the role of employees in Local Government who perform tasks involving a broad range of skilled applications including the requirement to evaluate and analyse current practices, develop new criteria and procedures for performing current practices, and provide leadership and guidance to others in the application and planning of these skills. Graduates will gain the skills and knowledge to operate effectively in the regulatory service roles within local Government, including Rangers and Parking Officers.

You will gain the following skills:

  • Conduct public educational presentations
  • Establish co-operative arrangements with other organisations
  • Manage finances within a budget
  • Follow defined OHS policies and procedures
  • Work effectively & work effectively with others in Local Government
  • Represent Council's role and value in the community
  • Read and interpret plans and specifications
  • Prepare and present Geographic Information Systems data
  • Provide assistance in carrying out building inspections
  • Analyse the natural and built environment
  • Conduct initial assessments of minor planning applications
  • Support the planning application, notification and appeals process
  • Conduct site inspections to check accuracy of plan and application documentation, and
  • Provide evidence in court.
