This qualification is aimed for you to become a qualified tradesperson in the mechanical field within the metal, engineering, manufacturing and associated industries or other industries where engineering – mechanical tradespeople work. 

The qualification is designed for apprentices and has been developed to deliver subjects both on and off the job. You will acquire industry-specific skills that equips you with the knowledge and abilities such as how to interact with computing technology, apply quality systems and procedures, maintain pneumatic systems, maintain hydraulic systems, perform general machining, perform lathe operations, dismantle, replace and assemble engineering components. 

The qualification is an apprenticeship and is delivered through a combination of on the job and classroom assessment activities.

When you complete the Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade you'll be looking at a trades career as a machinist metal, mechanical fitter, metal plater or plant mechanic in industries such as mining, automotive, or hydraulics.

You will gain the skills and knowledge to create and work with metal fabrications and equipment, testing and troubleshooting mechanical instruments, using workshop machines, hand and power tools, welding, thermal cutting, measuring, technical drawing, and workplace health and safety.
