This qualification is delivered as a four year apprenticeship and compromises both theory and significant practical components. It covers generic skills for the construction industry and extensive trade specific units of competency.  The qualification provides a trade outcome in carpentry and joinery upon successful completion. Over the four years participants gain knowledge in OHS requirements, plan and organise work, learn hand skills, construct wall frames and construct pitched eaves. This qualification is suitable for people who have signed a training contract and have entered into an apprenticeship arrangement in this trade area.

The Apprentice and Traineeship Co

This is an apprenticeship and this qualification provides a trade outcome in carpentry and joinery, covering work in residential and commercial applications.

A person must be employed as an apprentice to enrol in this qualification. The apprenticeship is usually over 3 – 4 years with off-site training in 3 of these years either, usually a “Block” release mode throughout the year.

Training is face to face with practical skills development in the workshop being a major component of the program.

If you are an experienced worker in this field, you may also apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) to gain your Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery before applying for your Trade papers.
