This course is for people wanting to gain experience in working with animals. It is an entry point into the animal care industry and prepares you for job roles such as an animal attendant in a kennel, cattery, animal shelter or pet shop.

The course enables you to develop skills and knowledge required for the care and maintenance of animals in a variety of workplaces. You will learn about the animal care industry and careers available in its many sectors. South Metropolitan TAFE will provide you with access to practical experience with animals throughout the course.

During the course you will be required to complete work placement somewhere that houses and cares for any type of companion animals.

Murdoch and Peel Campus only offer this course full-time, Bentley Campus offers this course full-time and via Traineeship.

This Qualification is also available as a Traineeship. To study as a Trainee, you must be employed in a training contract by an appropriate organisation. Please see the Apprenticeships/Traineeships section for more information.
