This is the qualification required of workers who wish to be employed as the responsible officer in out of school-hours child care settings. It also provides workers with the skills and knowledge useful in supporting the implementation of learning and development programs, and supporting children’s wellbeing in 5 – 12 years olds. Successful completion of this qualification will provide a strong foundation for progressing to the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care.This qualification can be completed as a traineeship in the workplace (if you are currently employed in the industry) or in a face to face classroom setting with small classes and experienced trainers who are able to cater for the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.

All participants must complete 150 hours of work placement which the Academy coordinates on their behalf. The Western Australian Government has identified the Child Care Industry as a skills shortage area.
