Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today announced the finalists in the 2019 WA Training Awards.
In 2019, the Awards celebrate 25 years of excellence in the training sector through employers, organisations and training providers as well as individual talent setting the benchmark for our future workforce.
“A key focus of this Government is jobs, which requires a strong, industry-driven vocational training sector. The WA Training Awards encourages continuous improvement, innovation and excellence in the VET sector which is crucial to building a skilled and work ready workforce in Western Australia,” said Minister Ellery.
Across 13 categories, 43 finalists have shown excellence in their fields, including two employers for this year’s inaugural Medium Employer of the Year award.
In announcing the finalists, Minister Ellery said “Finalists are contributing positively to Western Australia’s future and these awards are a springboard for many finalists to continue to raise the profile of their chosen careers and build on their achievements”.
The Awards highlight the opportunities available for Western Australians to transform their careers and change their future. Many of the individual finalists this year have been inspired to change career paths and pursue their dreams through training. From construction to community services and from beauty therapy to ICT, these stories demonstrate the unique ability of the training system to inspire individuals to transform their futures and obtain skills required for future job needs.
The organisational finalists this year demonstrate how the training sector delivers vital education and training opportunities while providing important services to the community. For the first time in the WA Awards, the contributions of Medium employers were recognised as a separate category.
“The WA Training Awards are an opportunity to really shine a light on, celebrate and honour the achievements of the many outstanding performers in the VET sector,” said Minister Ellery.
