Peel Jobs and Skills Centre’s pre-apprentice and VET students information session a huge success!

Held at South Metropolitan TAFE's Mandurah campus, the Peel Jobs and Skills Centre's pre-apprentice and VET students information session and mini jobs fair held on Wednesday 31 October was a huge success, with approximately 60 students attending.  There was a great turn out of students from SMTAFE’s carpentry and joinery, metals engineering, automotive, horticulture and conservation and land management areas, including VET students from John Tonkin College and also SMYL.

The session was jointly presented by:

  • the Peel JSC team;
  • Bridging the GAP – including the careers van;
  • SMYL;
  • Apprenticeship Support Australia (Australian Apprenticeships Support Network provider)
  • Bunnings, who also ran the sausage sizzle and AEG tools expo;
  • the Construction Training Fund; and
  • Mandurah Toyota.

The session provided students with useful information on the free careers, training and employment services provided by the Peel JSC, and advice on sourcing an apprenticeship and further training. Many of the students registered with the JSC and were encouraged to visit the centre to discuss their future career and employment options.

The Peel JSC team would like to thank the SMTAFE Peel delivery area staff for their support of the information session. More information/jobs fair sessions are planned for 2019 - look out for information on this website, or you can follow Jobs and Skills WA on Twitter or like us on Facebook to keep up with all the news about events near you.
