Get farm ready with the Broadacre Harvest Operations skill set!
A new free* skill set in harvesting operations is now available as part of the State Government's $25 million Skills Ready package. The new training has been developed to meet the immediate and emerging skills needs of Western Australia's multi-billion dollar agricultural sector.
The new Broadacre Harvest Operations skill set will get you job ready for the agricultural industry, with the skills and knowledge to safely undertake employment for harvest operations in the broadacre sector. Participants will learn how to safely operate a range of agricultural machinery used for harvest — for example a tractor, header, augur and chaser-bin, and also learn how to undertake agricultural crop harvesting. The skill set is 100% free for eligible students.
This skill set is ideal for anyone wanting to enter the agricultural industry and gain employment as a farm worker during harvest, or as a starting point for a career in agriculture. It's perfect for school leavers, career changers, or anyone wanting to update their skills according to current industry practices and equipment. It covers three nationally accredited and recognised units of competency:
- AHCWHS301 — Contribute to work health and safety processes
- AHCMOM305 — Operate specialised machinery and equipment
- AHCBAC308 — Undertake agricultural crop harvesting activities
The new skill set is the ideal pathway to further training; such as in the Certificate III in Agriculture qualification, which is half price* under the Lower fees, local skills program.
*Please visit the website for details of eligibility requirements for the free training.
**Half price applies to course fees only; other fees may apply. Please see website for details.
