Department of Defence Work Experience Program – Army, Navy and Air Force!

The Department of Defence employs more than 20,000 people in a range of critical positions Australia wide enabling our three services – Navy, Army and Air Force – to do their job. 

There are around 350 jobs to choose from in the Australian Defence Force (ADF), in just about every field you can think of –  the ADF offers one of the most diverse range of careers in the country, and  pays you to study for your qualifications.

The Defence Work Experience Program provides young Australians interested in Defence as a future career the opportunity to sample life  in the Army, Navy or Air Force and learn more about the exciting career opportunities available with the ADF and the Australian Public Service (APS).

Work experience with Defence can provide you with  with opportunities to develop and gain confidence through meaningful, interactive and informative placements that will give you a taste of what a career in the Australian Army, Navy or Air Force could be like.

The Defence Work Experience Program is an inclusive program for all Australian students at a secondary school, university, TAFE or other places of education. Students participating in Defence work experience placements must be at least 15 years of age at the time of the placement, and Australian citizens or permanent residents. All reasonable steps will be taken to include any person whose individual circumstances may necessitate special considerations to allow participation.
