COVID-19 UPDATE: LOCKDOWN RESTRICTIONS EASED FOR PERTH AND PEEL REGION

Important information update for WA TAFE students, Jobs and Skills Centre clients, and Department clients

With no further local cases of COVID-19 overnight, and strong testing numbers, at 12.01 am Friday 30 April 2021, the Perth and Peel regions post lockdown restrictions will be significantly eased.

A small number of transitional measures will remain in place until 12.01 am Saturday 8 May 2021.

We encourage you to visit wa.gov.au to find more information. Please follow state health advice, stay safe and check our website for further updates.

WA TAFE colleges

In line with the Perth metropolitan and Peel regions transitional measures, all staff and students at WA TAFE colleges will be required to wear a mask while inside the TAFE college buildings.  Lecturers are permitted to remove their mask while teaching.

People can travel out of the Perth and Peel regions, to other parts of WA. Please note, anyone who has been in Perth or Peel since 17 April must wear a mask when inside a WA metropolitan or regional based TAFE college building.

The two square metre rule will not apply in classrooms and working environments at any TAFE.

TAFE campuses are being cleaned before classes resume, with particular attention to high contact surfaces. Hand sanitiser is also available across campuses in key locations. There will also be a small supply of masks for staff and students in the event they require a replacement while on campus.

If you have been to one of the sites outlined on the Healthy WA website and are required to quarantine, please do as instructed by health officials.

Usual physical distancing and hygiene practices will continue, following the Healthy WA guidelines, particularly those around hand washing, covering coughs and sneezes and staying home if you are unwell.

If you are unwell, awaiting COVID-19 test results or in self-isolation, please do not attend TAFE.

Please continue to use the SafeWA app, practice good hygiene and COVID-safe habits and stay safe.

Jobs and Skills Centres

All Jobs and Skills Centres (JSCs) in the Perth metropolitan area and Peel region have returned to full operations.

  • Visitors to all JSCs across the State must check in using the SafeWA app or contact register.
