Coronavirus national public health advice for TAFE students

The enrolment period for students attending TAFE in Semester 1 2020 is in progress and semester is due to commence from 3 February.

The Department of Training and Workforce Development and TAFE colleges are working closely with the WA Department of Health to monitor and respond to the latest information about Novel Coronavirus in Western Australia.

There is some important advice which has been agreed across all State and Commonwealth Health Departments.  Further information and fact sheets for parents, students and staff are on the WA Department of Health website.

Update - 30 January 2020

In response to reported cases of the novel coronavirus in Australia and overseas, the Department of Training and Workforce Development and TAFE are acting on national public health advice from the Australian Department of Health.

A highly precautionary approach is recommended:

  • Students who have been in contact with any confirmed novel coronavirus cases should self-isolate for 14 days following exposure and stay away from TAFE; and    
  • returned travellers who have been in Hubei province of China should self-isolate in their homes for 14 days after leaving Hubei province, other than seeking individual medical care.
