Adult Learners Week 1–8 September

Adult Learners Week is celebrated annually all around the world. With hundreds of events and activities taking place across Australia, Adult Learners Week is a celebration of lifelong learning. It aims to highlight the benefits of learning while educating about the many adult learning options available.

Learning as an adult can increase competence, confidence, self-sufficiency and general wellbeing. In purely economic terms this means that people are more productive because they are healthier, motivated and more skilled; but it can also provide people with opportunities for social interaction, networking and collaboration.

Vocational education and training (VET) offers a range of learning options – from a skill set when you want to learn something specific, a unit or units of competency if you want a broad set of skills in a particular area, right through to a full qualification – the choice is yours! With VET, you can follow your own learning pathway.

VET is designed for adults – learning is hands-on and practical, and you achieve competence by demonstrating your skills and abilities rather than sitting an exam. Through Jobs and Skills WA, many VET courses that align with priority industry areas and occupations are subsidised, making them more accessible to everyone.

To find out more about VET courses and training options, please visit the Training section of the Jobs and Skills WA website or contact your local Jobs and Skills Centre for free advice, information and guidance.
