Programmed Skilled Workforce, in partnership with Tronox, is offering the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification as a Mechanical Fitter (MEM30205 Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade).

Tronox is a fully integrated titanium minerals producer and pigment manufacturer. At our operations in Western Australia, we extract and process rich mineral sands into a range of valuable products which are exported to international markets.

Our local sites based in Bunbury, Australind and Kemerton are all long-term stable employers of choice. The sites form part of the global operations of Tronox Limited, one of the world’s largest producers of titanium dioxide pigment, with a global customer base.

Who we’re looking for:

It’s important you’re willing to learn and develop your skills over this apprenticeship and have a good attitude and strong work ethic. You will be willing to work as part of an experienced team, under close supervision and also at times independently.

In addition, you will;

  • Have excellent communication, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Have great attention to detail and good problem-solving skills
  • Have the ability to meet strict deadlines and cooperate with others
  • Be punctual, reliable and presentable
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge and understanding of relevant workplace health and safety requirements
  • Successfully pass pre-employment background checks, medical, drug and alcohol screening and site inductions

Selection criteria

Skills and Experience

To be successful, you will meet the following criteria:

  • Completion of Secondary Schooling (minimum)
  • Pre-apprenticeship qualification Certificate II in Engineering (Mechanical Fitter and Machinist) is highly desirable
  • Ability to work a 76-hour, 9-day fortnight
  • Have a good mechanical understanding and aptitude
  • Relevant work experience
  • A current WA drivers licence and own transport
  • Strong commitment to safety and driven work ethic
  • The ability to pass a pre-employment medical and regular drug & alcohol screening tests
  • Genuine interest in a career within the industry
