The South Metropolitan region of Perth covers an area of over 3,300 square kilometres and is home to approximately 25% of Western Australia's population. The region includes WA’s popular tourist spots of Fremantle and Mandurah.
The South Metropolitan Region’s four Jobs and Skills Centres are located on the Thornlie, Rockingham, Armadale and Peel TAFE campuses. Peel Jobs and Skills Centre’s services are delivered by South Metropolitan TAFE and SMYL Community Services across the Peel region. We also have CaLD and Ex-offender specialist service providers available to access in our region.
We work to meet local needs, including youth unemployment and workforce engagement following COVID-19. Our highly experienced staff focus on getting young people, women, displaced workers, and career changers into training and jobs to meet immediate and emerging skill requirements.

Specialist services
Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) specialist services
Specialist services and activities designed to assist people from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) background to make educational, training and work choices are available. As well as providing information on training and opportunities to use existing skills or learn new or additional skills, The Multicultural Services Centre of WA (MSC) is supporting Jobs and Skills Centres with specialist services and can work with you to overcome barriers to employment, education and training.
The Multicultural Services Centre of WA can help with information on training options, and developing a career action plan including work experience, voluntary work and other opportunities that can provide you with job-ready skills and experience, to improve your job prospects.
They also offer computer assisted career guidance and workshops on career options and employability skills including basic occupational safety and health.

Ex-offenders
When you’re released from prison, finding a steady job or getting your career back on track can make a big difference in getting your life moving in a positive direction. Outcare is supporting the Jobs and Skills Centres with specialist services to help get you into work or training. They also offer a program for Aboriginal ex-offenders to support effective transition from prison to reconnect with community and culture.
Outcare can help with information on training or education options and advice on choosing a career path, a computer, printer and internet access to help with writing your resumé and job applications, and preparing for job interviews.
They also offer a one-day career development course, delivered in prison, which covers aspects such as interview techniques, self-image, disclosing convictions and how to access employment services within the community to prepare people for release.
