In Perth’s north, four Jobs and Skills Centres provide personalised services to individuals, businesses and industry. These centres cover the area from the northern banks of the Swan River, through the central business district of Perth, out to the eastern areas of Midland and Balga, and extending all the way north beyond Joondalup to Yanchep.
The four centres located at Joondalup (northern suburbs) — Balga (eastern suburbs), Midland (north eastern suburbs) and Perth (CBD and surrounding suburbs) — provide professional and practical support to individuals on training and employment opportunities via one-on-one and group career advice sessions, apprenticeship and traineeship information and guidance on accredited and non-accredited training options.
Our centres also provide culturally appropriate services to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the community.
Engaging with businesses, our experienced industry liaison officers provide support with workforce development planning and skills analysis, recruitment and selection strategies, apprenticeship/traineeship information and assistance with the development of Aboriginal engagement, recruitment and retention plans.
Emerging industries with high employment projections within the north metropolitan region include infrastructure, health and aged care, cyber security, hospitality and retail. The Jobs and Skills Centres promote these high-growth industries to people looking for meaningful and sustainable employment within the region.

Specialist services
Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CaLD) specialist services
Specialist services and activities designed to assist people from a culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) background to make educational, training and work choices are available. As well as providing information on training and opportunities to use existing skills or learn new or additional skills, The Multicultural Services Centre of WA (MSC) is supporting Jobs and Skills Centres with specialist services and can work with you to overcome barriers to employment, education and training.
The Multicultural Services Centre of WA can help with information on training options, and developing a career action plan including work experience, voluntary work and other opportunities that can provide you with job-ready skills and experience, to improve your job prospects.
They also offer computer assisted career guidance and workshops on career options and employability skills including basic occupational safety and health.

Ex-offenders
When you’re released from prison, finding a steady job or getting your career back on track can make a big difference in getting your life moving in a positive direction. Outcare is supporting the Jobs and Skills Centres with specialist services to help get you into work or training. They also offer program for Aboriginal ex-offenders to support effective transition from prison to reconnect with community and culture.
Outcare can help with information on training or education options and advice on choosing a career path, a computer, printer and internet access to help with writing your resumé and job applications, and preparing for job interviews.
They also offer a one-day career development course, delivered in prison, which covers aspects such as interview techniques, self-image, disclosing convictions and how to access employment services within the community to prepare people for release.
