Responsible service of alcohol

Get your RSA certificate and be job ready for work in a bar, restaurant, hotel or entertainment venue.

Any individual who is involved with the sale, supply or service of alcohol in licensed premises is required, by law in Australia, to hold a valid Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate. Here's how to get yours!

This short course skill set will teach you how to sell, serve or supply alcohol responsibly, in accordance with state government legislation. 

On completion, you will receive your RSA Responsible Service of Alcohol certification. 

You'll learn about preparing and serving drinks in standard drink sizes; enforcing house policies regarding the consumption of alcohol; ensuring customers are over 18, including requesting acceptable proof of age; assisting customers to drink within appropriate limits; assessing alcohol affected customers; refusing service to intoxicated patrons and to minors; handling conflict situations, and more. 

Successful completion of this skill set provides credit towards qualifications in tourism, travel, and hospitality if you wish to do further study.

This short course will give you the skills and the ability to engage in the sale or service of alcohol responsibly.

This unit of competency outlines the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge needed for responsible alcohol service. It applies to all personnel involved in the sale, service or promotional service of alcohol in licensed premises. Responsible practices must be followed wherever alcohol is sold or served, including situations where alcohol samples are provided during onsite tastings.

The unit is relevant to any workplace where alcohol is served or sold such as hospitality venues, packaged liquor outlets, wineries, breweries and distilleries. Individuals selling or serving alcohol must hold a state‑ or territory‑based Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.

This one-day course covers the specifics of dealing with the sale and service of alcohol including local accord agreements.

The course will be delivered face to face by an experienced industry professional and covers real life scenarios. The legal responsibilities and duty of care of organisations and individuals is investigated and group discussion is encouraged.

This is a nationally recognised course and contributes to a Certificate II in Hospitality.
