You'll get the skills you need to manage a department or even a whole venue with a high level knowledge of the hospitality industry in Australia. You will be able to develop your skills in leadership, communication, and business administration, as well as gain high level skills in customer service management, budgeting and financial management, rostering, risk management and compliance. 

Depending on your training provider, you will be able to choose additional electives to support your carer in commercial cookery, food and beverage, gaming, accommodation services, or back of house.

Completion of this nationally recognised and accredited qualification may provide credit towards a relevant higher level qualification or university degree, should you wish to pursue further study in this field.

When you complete the Diploma of Hospitality Management you will be able to work as a functions manager, restaurant manager, or front office manager.

You will develop a broad range of managerial and industry-specific hospitality skills to effectively coordinate hospitality operations. Upon successful completion, you will be able to work independently, take responsibility for others, and make operational business decisions with confidence.

This course covers a wide range of essential topics, including financial management, regulatory compliance, staff rostering, stock purchasing and control, delivering quality customer service, and managing workplace conflict.

You'll gain hands-on experience while training in NMTAFE's fine dining, à la carte training restaurant or café, both open to the public.

When applying for this course, any prior study within the industry will be taken into consideration. If your previous study is limited, you may be directed to a more appropriate course level.

Learn in the real-life setting of our award-winning Bentley Pines Training Restaurant which provides a live, interactive training environment at SM TAFE’s Bentley campus. Students can gain hands-on experience serving and preparing food for members of the public, as well as showcasing their skills planning a menu and advertising special events to the community.
