This is the qualification you need to set yourself up for a rewarding a career as a youth worker, youth support worker, or caseworker. You'll gain the knowledge and skills to communicate and work effectively in the youth sector; promoting social, emotional and physical wellbeing.

You'll also learn how to respond to critical situations; work with youth at risk; assist collective action; and work with cultural diversity, and gain an understanding of ethical behaviour and legal responsibilities for working in youth services.

JSW Training & Community Services offers this qualification by a traineeship only. It reflects the role of workers who develop and facilitate programs for young people through a range of community-based programs designed to address the social, behavioural, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people.

Your work may be undertaken through employment in community, government and youth sector agencies and you will be:

  • responsible for implementing policies and guidelines of the employing organisation
  • largely self-directed with autonomous decision-making capacity under the indirect supervision of a manager.
