The skills and knowledge you'll gain include demonstrating leadership in the workplace; leading effective workplace relationships; coordinating business operational plans and strategies; applying communication strategies in the workplace; and how to lead and facilitate a team.

What does a manager of the future look like? There is a shift in the stereotypes we often hear with the title ‘Manager’, and research shows that the world is moving towards a more human-centered approach to leadership. So what do managers of the future look like in practice? What is their management style? This course covers the principles you need to learn to succeed in management.

You will learn how to lead effectively by analysing your own leadership style, learn how to enthuse encourage and lead, and many other emotional intelligence skills. You will gain many everyday skills such as setting work priorities and implementing operational plans, innovating, and leading teamwork.

This qualification is ideally suited to:

  • Upcoming managers or team leaders who want to develop high-level management skills to succeed in their position

  • Entrepreneurs to enhance people skills at the start of developing their visions.

  • Junior staff who wish to gain strong baseline leadership skills

  • Experienced staff who wish to fine-tune their management skills

This qualification provides participants with the skills needed to always put their best selves forward and work as effective leaders in their field.

Develop the skills to lead and manage with confidence

Successful leaders are highly valued across all industries and possess a combination of skills and qualities that enable them to effectively lead and motivate their team towards success.

Effective leaders continuously strive to further develop their own capabilities, and this course is suited to: •    Recently appointed leaders or managers wanting to develop strong foundations in leadership and management •    Experienced leaders or managers looking to consolidate and be formally recognised for their leadership and management capabilities

Designed for busy professionals, this course will be delivered through a program of skill sets. You'll need to be working in a leadership or management role, such as a frontline leader, team leader, supervisor, program coordinator, project leader or manager and, have supervisory responsibility for a minimum of two team members.

Comprised of six skill sets, the program provides you with flexibility to choose to do:

  • Only the skill sets that are most important to you, or
  • All six skill sets, achieving the whole qualification - depending on your other commitments, it may be possible to do this within six months.

Completion of each skill set will see you gain a Statement of Attainment while after successfully completing all of these skill sets, you'll be able to apply for the Certificate IV in Leadership and Management. Please see each skill set page for more details.

The Certificate IV in Leadership and Management explores a range of topics relevant to those wishing to explore a career as an office manager, team leader or supervisor. Workplace leadership roles require strong communication skills and the ability to motivate your team. You will need to be organised and able to handle several tasks at one time, and this course can help you get there. 

This course covers the principles of leadership and management, and will guide you through the use of effective written and verbal communication, from report writing to problem solving, and network and relationship building. You will learn about operational planning, getting the most out of digital technology and initiating workplace health and safety operations.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as developing and emerging leaders and managers in a range of enterprise and industry contexts.

As well as assuming responsibility for their own performance, individuals at this level are likely to provide leadership, guidance and support to others. They may also have some responsibility for organising and monitoring the output of teams.

They apply solutions to a defined range of predictable and unpredictable problems and analyse and evaluate information from a variety of sources.
