Smallgoods is a term used in New Zealand and Australia to refer to small meat products such as hams, bacons, or pepperoni. The smallgoods sector in Australia employs around 6,800 workers and provides a range of career opportunities in smallgoods manufacturing through to management.
The Certificate III in Meat Processing (Small goods-Manufacturing) is an entry level specialist qualification in smallgoods production. This qualification may be suited for those intending to work at a butcher, deli, or other retail outlet specialising in meat products.
Among other in demand skills, you'll learn to select, cut, trim, prepare and arrange meat for sale and supply, operate meat and smallgoods processing machines, and manage the processes in the production of smallgoods.
