Civil Construction is an area that offers fantastic job and career opportunities, working on projects such as new roads, bridges, train stations, schools and public buildings being constructed across WA, and this course will get you job ready for entry-level work.
You'll learn about safety and environmental protocols for a construction worksite; how to read plans and project specifications; use a range of hand and power tools; and perform accurate measurements and calculations. Depending on your TAFE or training provider, you will be able to choose specialist units in areas including bituminous surfacing; bridge construction; pipe laying; road construction; tunnel construction; timber bridges; traffic management; and general operational work.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals working as skilled operators in civil construction, who apply a broad range of skills in varied work contexts, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge. The individual may provide theoretical advice and support a team.
The qualification applies to specialist occupations in bituminous surfacing, bridge construction and maintenance, pipe laying, road construction and maintenance, road marking, tunnel construction, timber bridge construction and maintenance, traffic management and general civil construction occupations.
This qualification can be delivered as an apprenticeship within the metro or remote area.
